I've been stopping by here for 6 months and kicking myself for not taking time to keep this up to date. I couldn't have imagined that being retired would be so time consuming but, now that I have infrastructure projects down to a short list, I'll be spending more time here.
This years garden is in full production and we have just about finished processing a run of home grown Cornish Cross fryers. A good year so far.
During my blog hiatus, I did rekindle my flying interests and have two new RC planes in the air. I'll be posting some Flight (Topic) blurbs shortly.
About three weeks ago, I installed a new LPG fired Unit Furnace for the shop. At 75,000 BTU/hr, it takes only about 1/2 an hour to warm the place up to 65 Deg F from 50 (where we keep it when not occupied). Makes it real nice working out there this winter.
We brought in the end of the tomato harvest over the last week. Patty and I cooked up/put up (canned) 40 quarts of delicious marinara.
In addition, Patty processed up about a full quart of fresh basil pesto, toasted/skinned about 20 servings of anaheim peppers, and froze them all in small portions. We are looking to a gourmet winter.
Yesterday, I put the finishing touch on the Farm Gymnasium with installation of a newly re-upholstered incline press bench back. We were very fortunate to have located this gym in the warehouse of large body-building shop in the Denver area.
It's a Taurus Intermediate 5 Stack. We had to replace some cables, re-upholster a few items and a lot of cleaning. It spent it's first 30 or so years in a downtown Denver Gym, training boxers. Nice find for a home gym.
Feel like I've been working hard enough to build a pyramid yet, progress is only incremental. AC mains are pulled (not terminated), most trenches backfilled and have 'aprons' on the shop man door and rollup. Phew! I'm ready to kick back. You'll see that frustrated attempt in the next article.
Checked in to post this and saw that my friend Rainer - DJ8CL commented on previous. Good to hear from Rainer. Maybe he will get an account and contribuite.

Making progress in cleaning up the services mess. All water, gas, elect conduit and data conduits are in place with trenches covered. Well, almost: trench out to vegatable garden is still open and there is a work hole at the 2" conduit power tee branch leading to the house.
All that remains: pulling the power mains and plumb the garden water. Then, I can fill the last of the trenches and get to "blending" the new landscape.

Yesterday, I painted the shop building.
Boy, was it a big job. I started out w/ my Wagner airless and noticed that the spray pattern was tailing. I didn't make it very far before the boot dropped and the inlet check valve went tango uniform. Turns out Wagner uses an "O" ring across the faces of the valve seat to effect the seal (cheap!). Went into town and found the right size "O" ring. Returned back to the farm, re-assembled and re-started. Only got another 50 or so sq. ft. before the "O" ring let go again.
Called the rental outfit in Kamiah to verify availability of an airless and headed out to
